SOSDAS forms the core of the Dieppe Dash 2015 Sea‐Safety policy for all participating boats. It is imperative that all participants are fully aware of, and adhere to these provisions:

No later than 18:00hrs on Thursday, 30th April 2015, the organisers must receive confirmation of the following details for each participating boat:

    • Name and contact telephone number of the nominated shore-side contact (it is recommended your shore-side contact has name, address and next-of-kin details for each person on-board – the organisers will not require these details).
    • Number of persons on-board over 18 years of age (Adults).
    • Number of persons on-board under 18 years of age (Minors).
    • Register nominated contact mobile telephone number for the boat (SOSDAS Registered Boat Contact Number).
    • Boat type, hull colour, sail number (if any), MMSI number.
    • Will Make return passage from Dieppe to Home Port with Main fleet on Sunday, 3rd May‐2015 (Yes or No).

Any changes to details given at time of entry to be confirmed via email dieppedash@bmyc.org.uk or via BMYC Office.

Details of each competing boat will be passed to HM Coastguard on 30th April 2015 – We will notify search and rescue services of all boats deemed to be missing at sea.

The Organisers will monitor Sea Safety on the Outbound Passage for all participating boats on Friday,1st May‐15 and on the Return Passage for boats returning with the main fleet on Sunday, 3rd May‐15. It is imperative all boats give notification, via the SOSDAS procedure, on putting to sea and arriving at Port of Intended Destination/arriving at an Alternative Port of Safety.

If NOT making the return passage from Dieppe to the Home Port with the main fleet on Sunday, 3rd May‐15 there is no requirement for a boat to notify the organisers of safe arrival at safe haven; instead, at the discretion of the Person‐in‐Charge, HM Coastguard should be informed of arrival at a safe haven.

Please remember to Stand-Down your Shoreside Contact Person ASAP following safe arrival at the home port, this may save unnecessary concern by your Shoreside Contact and telephone calls to the organisers and/or HM Coastguard.

Please Note: SOSDAS time format is BST, i.e. GMT +1hr ‐ Please use BST format for all SOSDAS notifications; please follow any times mention in your message with the designatory letters ‘BST’.

GPS may be configured to BST time format (UTC +1hr).
