    The Organising Authority for the Dieppe Dash 2014 Race is the Brighton Marina Yacht Club.

    1. Rules
    1.1 The Event will be governed by;

    1. The Racing Rules of Sailing 2014-2016 (Jan-14 Revision),
    2. The prescriptions of the RYA Racing Charter (Mar-14 Revision) (www.rya.org.uk/racing/Pages/RacingCharter.aspx),
    3. The prescriptions of:
      – IRC (ircrating.org/images/stories/pdf/2014/irc2014_rule.pdf)
      Or
      – SCCH (www.sussexregatta.org.uk/handicaps/)
      as applicable to the fleet,
    4. The ORC Category 3 regulations plus life raft certificated as serviceable (www.sailing.org/tools/documents/OSR2014Mo3life23122013-[16068].pdf).
    1.2 In accordance with IRC Rule 22.4.3, IRC Rules 22.4.1 and 22.4.2 are deleted and replaced by ‘Subject to a decision by the person‐in‐charge and rules declared in this Notice of Race, no restriction shall apply to the maximum number of crew that may sail aboard a yacht. No restrictions on crew weight shall apply.’
    1.3 All boats must follow the Sign-On, Stand-Down, Abandon Safe (SOSDAS) procedure. A copy may be downloaded from www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/documents.asp.
    1.4 In the event of any conflict between languages the English language shall take precedence.
    1.5 In the event of any conflict between this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall take precedence.
    1.6 All competing yachts must comply with the Brighton Marina and Dieppe Port Authority byelaws.
    1.7 All competing yachts must comply with the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea (IRPCS) and Maritime Regulations.
    1.8 Changes to the Notice of Race will be posted on the Event Notice Board located within the Brighton Marina Yacht Club Clubhouse; a copy may be found at www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/documents.asp.
        
    2. Advertising
    2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen by the event organiser in accordance with ISAF advertising code. Any required advertising material will be distributed upon entry confirmation.
        
    3. Eligibility for Entry
    3.1 The Dieppe Dash Race is open to yachts that, on the day of the Race, hold a current IRC 2014 certificate complying with the IRC Rules 2014, OR boats that hold a current Sussex Combined Clubs Handicap (SCCH).
    3.2 Boats may apply for entry in one of the fleets: IRC, SCCH or White Sail supported by her Rating or Handicap certificate as applicable to the boat and fleet of entry.
    3.3 Eligible boats may enter by:
    – Completing the on-line entry form at www.dieppedash.com.
    or
    – Downloading the entry form via www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/; return completed form to Dieppe Dash, Sussex Yachts, Unit 20, Brighton Marina Village, Brighton, BN2 5WA or to the Sussex Yachts shop in Brighton Marina Village or via email to dieppedash@bmyc.org.uk.
    3.3 Entries must be received by the date indicated and accompanied by the appropriate full payment as shown in article 4 of this notice.
    3.4 Incomplete entries will be charged the applicable entry fee valid at the time the entry becomes complete.
    3.5 Late entries will be subject to acceptance at the discretion of the Organising Authority.
        
    4. Fees
    4.1 Early Bird Fee shall apply to entries received before 17:00 hrs on 14th April 2014 – £45.00 per entry.
    4.2 Standard Fee shall apply to entries received before 17:00 hrs on 28th April 2014 – £65.00 per entry.
    4.3 Entries received after 17:00hrs on 28th April 2014 shall be accepted subject to discretion of the organisers.
        
    5 Schedule
    5.1 Sign-On on the day of the race shall be via the SOSDAS procedure – see Article 1.3 of this Notice of Race.
    5.2 Subject to amendments to this Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions or a decision taken by the Race Officer on the day, the first warning signal shall be made at 05:55 hrs BST on Friday, 2nd May 2014.
    5.3 The Dieppe Dash Race shall consist of a single race.
        
    6. Measurements
    6.1 Each competing yacht shall produce on demand a current IRC certificate or SCCH handicap.
    6.2 Yachts entering IRC classes shall provide a copy of their current IRC certificate before 12:00hrs on Monday, 21st April 2014.
    6.3 Yachts requiring a SCC handicap shall complete and return the application form before 12:00hrs on Monday, 21st April 2014. Application forms can be downloaded from www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/documents.asp and should be sent by e mail to dieppedash@bmyc.org.uk or sent by post to the event office to arrive before the closure of applications.
    6.4 The organisers reserve the right to assign a boat to a class within the fleet of entry.
    6.5 The organising committee reserve the right to check measurements and compliance with class rules and/or ORC safety regulations.
        
    7. Sailing Instructions
    7.1 The Sailing Instructions will be available after 12:00 hrs on Tuesday, 22nd April 2014 from www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/documents.asp.
    7.2 It shall be the responsibility of the competing yacht to download the Sailing Instructions. Written copies will not be available from the Organising Authority.
        
    8. Venue
    8.1 The Race office for Dieppe Dash will be Brighton Marina Yacht Club, Medina House, Park Square Road, Brighton Marina, Brighton East Sussex, BN2 5UT.
    8.2 A pre-event briefing will be held at Brighton Marina Yacht Club commencing 19:30 hrs on 1st May 2014.
    8.3 The race area shall be the English Channel between Brighton Marina and the Port of Dieppe.
        
    9. Course
    9.1 The Course shall be declared in Appendix A of the Sailing Instructions.
        
    10 Penalty System
    10.1 In the event a boat is disqualified as a result of a protest it shall be scored “DNE”.
        
    11. Support Boats
    11.1 During racing, support boats shall remain at a distance of 100 metres or greater from any competing boat, except when asked to assist crew in an emergency situation.
        
    12. Berthing
    12.1 Reduced rate berthing is available at Brighton Marina; please complete the berthing request form which may be downloaded from www.bmyc.org.uk/racing/Dieppe%20Dash/documents.asp.
    12.2 Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in Brighton Marina and Dieppe Harbour.
    12.3 Competitors shall obey instructions from members of the Organising Committee and staff of Brighton Marina and Dieppe Port Authority.
        
    13. Radio Communication
    13.1 Race control VHF channel shall be Ch77.
    13.2 Boat to Boat communication during the event shall be via VHF Ch77.
    13.3 Except in an emergency a yacht shall not make any radio transmission during the starting sequence.
    13.4 All boats shall monitor VHF Ch16 whilst at sea – Dual Watch VHF CH16 and CH77.
    13.5 All boats shall observe all instructions given by the emergency services regarding use of VHF Ch16.
        
    14. Prizes
    14.1 Prizes will be awarded subject to discretion of sponsors.
    14.2 Where classes are merged (see 6.4) above prizes will be awarded to the single merged class only.
    14.3 An award will be made to the most successful team from any one club in IRC and SCCH divisions.
        
    15. Disclaimer of Liability
    15.1 Competitors participate in the Dieppe Dash entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
        
    16. Insurance
    16.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance in the name of the Person-In-Charge with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
